Oral Surgery

The Bumgardner Family Dental team prioritizes giving our patients stress-free oral surgery experiences

Oral surgery – procedures performed on teeth, gums, or jaws – can feel scary for most people.

At Bumgardner Family Dental, we understand this and take specific steps to alleviate this fear. We use the most advanced technologies to ensure procedures are less invasive and more comfortable for patients. Additionally, our staff works hard to guarantee each patient feels confident going into a procedure by answering all questions they may have. We perform several oral surgeries including tooth extractions, socket grafting, and bone & gum reshaping

Extractions

An extraction is completely removing a tooth from the mouth and jaw. And at Bumgardner Family Dental, we provide two types of dental extractions: simple and surgical.

A simple extraction is the removal of a tooth that is fully visible in the mouth. We use a local anesthetic to numb the mouth and gums around the extraction site so the patient won’t feel pain.

surgical extraction is needed when removing a tooth that has multiple and/or very curved or flared roots. In these instances, we section or cut the tooth to separate the roots and then remove them individually. For anxious patients, we offer nitrous oxide inhalation anesthesia. In some cases, we can also prescribe anxiety medications for the patients to take before their procedure.

Bone & Gum Reshaping

Teeth aren’t the only focus for dental health! Paying attention to the condition of your gums and jawbone is also essential. If you begin noticing problems in these areas, rest assured that Bumgardner Family Dental can help. Our gum reshaping procedure focuses on cosmetic enhancement while our bone reshaping procedure most frequently focuses on improving the jawbone after extractions.

Socket Grafting

Socket grafting procedures are most often used directly following tooth extraction. This procedure rebuilds the space left empty after a tooth is pulled to slow down the shrinking of the jawbone and keep the option for future implants open.

Don’t suffer any longer with painful or annoying dental problems!
